Going long

Wednesday 12th March

About 30kms total...nasty run home along river after work. Blustery headwind, dam cold. Felt p1ssed off for a while, just sh1te conditions but at least not raining. Long for the sunny warm days cruising along the St Kilda promenade. Pavement seems to be very unforgiving as well, knee really started tweaking halfway home, even more than the half. Looking forward to being able to run at night down at Richmond or Clapham on dirt surfaces after work instead come summer.
About an hour run to gym, then an hour on the treadmill, knee felt much better on the treadmill. Set pace at 14km/h, watched soccer and cruised, comfortable pace. Last km or so at 16km/h increasing to 18km/h for last few hundred metres. Surprisingly easy, longest run in 18 months.

Thursday 13th March

Getting out of bed harder than last nights run. Expected to be a bit sore this morning, but other than the normal blitzed feeling in the joints, very surprised. Not too tired at work, calves etc feel fine. Running home tonight, getting badgered to go out drinking, is the hardest test still in this city. Staying strong!

Run home from work, still terribly shite weather, drizzling and cold. Felt ok, knees sore but other than that no worries. Starting to enjoy the run past Big Ben, London Eye and passing by the 8 bridges or so. Will be better when it is daylight and not so dam cold. 50kms in 3 nights, starting to feel pretty tired but legs ok which is reassuring.. Off to Barca this weekend for one last weekend with a few beers, then head down for the next month.
