Backing up from Long Run

Just completed an easy 7k jog round Albert Park to see how the body fared after yesterday's long run, and managed to without feeling any major twinges. Have pulled up very well today after doing about 32kms yesterday down to Black Rock, my first long run (over 2 hours) in about 3-4 months. Did even splits, around 63 mins each way so very happy. On target for Auckland marathon October 29th. Have the AV Burnley 1/2 this Sunday, so will be interested to see if the last 3 weeks training can see me run around 1:15.
Ran 82kms last week, which is the most this year I think, and after feeling like a train wreck for a few days last week I think the body has settled down, especially the knees which were really tweaking for a while there. Will do an easy 12kms each night this week, an easy run on Saturday of about 7kms.

Four days in a row....

One last chance for this season...went for my 5th run in a row today down to Elwood. Friday night did an easy jog to Elwood in prep for Ballarat cross country, ran the 8km cross Saturday which went suprisingly well. Finished in 29:47 in about 82nd place which wasn't too shabby considering I've done about 4 runs in 6 weeks. Sunday went to the Dandenongs with Tim and others and did about 1 hour 40...was home late from the pub around 1am and the first 20 mins were hell more to do with lack of sleep than pace. Managed to do the Potato Patch hills and Spirals.
Legs have recovered ok from the hard hill sets. Went down to Elwoos last night, 17:10 and 16:47 and back on track.
Thinking of doing the Auckland marathon if I can get enough money for the airfare, otherwise will do Melbourne. Feels awesome to be back out on the road!
